After a bit of a rainy Friday that thankfully didn’t cause an evacuation or cancelation of any sets, the weather markedly improved for Saturday. The one thing I’ll say about the performances on Day 2 is that they were generally quite good, with a couple of true standouts (looking at you, The Armed). Join me after the jump for some more quick bite summaries of the many sets I witnessed on Saturday at Pitchfork Music Festival!
Damn, now that the weather doesn’t totally suck the crowds are really packing it in at #p4kfest. Can’t really recall a time the festival has been this busy before 4pm. I mostly blame Mitski, even though she’s a headliner and everyone could have shown up later.

.@thelindalindas are all under 18. They are also much cooler and rock much harder than you. Sorry, these are facts. #p4kfest pic.twitter.com/o0Rp9ebUCX

Detroit collective @thearmed have everything: strong men, a dude with long hair who knows how to use it, multiple people wearing Insane Clown Posse makeup, someone playing instruments blindfolded, and more fog machines than a haunted house. I have no notes. #p4kfest pic.twitter.com/Hu8ASgtsEI

Not sure why #p4kfest scheduled Hyd on one of the main stages in a time slot with no competition. You put a slow pop artist like Hyd on the small Blue stage against a high energy rock band or rapper. Oh well. Hyd was lovely but will benefit from more stage experience. pic.twitter.com/14cfyLu51C

Grateful for an artist like @yeul_e, who can take the #p4kfest crowd on a beautiful journey with depth and meaning beyond the songs themselves. pic.twitter.com/deA0z9b9VU

Really appreciated how @drycleaningband managed to make their guitars sound a lot like rusty chainsaws this afternoon. The new songs they played fell right in line with their previous material, only at times louder and more driving. Excellent. #p4kfest pic.twitter.com/MEa5fz2imr

The way @MagdalenaBay just let their incredibly addictive pop songs stand for themselves with no pretense other than having an absolute blast…the #p4kfest crowd ate up every moment dancing and singing along. They’re gonna be superstars sooner rather than later. pic.twitter.com/hhERq2kcWu

Not sure if it’s their newest record or anger over being “demoted” to the smaller Blue stage at #p4kfest, but Iceage are playing with more hunger and energy than I’ve seen from them in several years. This is the version of Iceage I love most. Elias trying to burn the world down. pic.twitter.com/3euwFQtcc1

I wonder if @lucydacus’ #p4kfest outfit is on loan from ‘The Voyager’ collection by @jennylewis. 🌈 pic.twitter.com/CTd316vheI

I’ve seen @Jbrekkie live a few times now, and have yet to be disappointed. Another great one at #p4kfest, filled with positive energy and quality songs. Does it get any better than this? Do I even care to find out? pic.twitter.com/eW8ZsIpz0u

Since you’ve been good all day, you get some @mitskileaks photos from #p4kfest, as a treat. An impressive headlining set, worthy of the deafening screams that permeated Union Park tonight. pic.twitter.com/OGuYB9l6Sx
