Listmas officially begins in one week! Hooray! There are plenty of publications that have taken a certain amount of pride in being among the first to publish their year-end best of lists, and exciting as the season can be, I’m of the firm belief that a measured approach is necessary to truly reflect on the past year. You can’t truly say it’s the best of 2015 if you’re only including 11 of the 12 months. Now while there’s not much in the way of new music released in December, you never know if some superstar artist (D’Angelo, Beyonce) will wait until the very last minute to drop a brand new album on us. Of course that usually comes in the final, post-Christmas week anyways, so all the lists are locked in by that point whether they’re published or not. Still, I believe in caution. So we’ll kick off Listmas next Monday with the countdown of my Top 50 Songs of 2015. It’s set to be exciting, and you’re likely to see a few Pick Your Poison entries make the final cut. Speaking of which, there are some great new tracks in this set that I suppose are all under last minute list consideration.
