I know we’ve just gotten past the weekend, but Chicago readers, do you have plans for Saturday night (June 14th)? We’re still at the start of summer festival season, and there are street fests and all sorts of other nonsense going on, but if you’re looking to hear some great music that truly reflects the sunny, warm weather, might I recommend the L.A.-based band Allah-Las? They’ll have a new record out later this summer, but their self-titled debut is filled with the sort of hooks and jangly pop that put you in an outdoor fun sort of mood. At the start of this year they released a 7″ single featuring two of their strongest songs yet, “Had It All” and “Every Girl.” If you listen to those tracks, expect them to get stuck in your head for days. Anyways, the Allah-Las are on tour right now, and if you’ll be bumming around Chicago with nothing to do, maybe head over to the Empty Bottle to check them out. It’s a 21+ show, starts at 9:30, and tickets are only $10 in advance. Pick one up here should you be so inclined. Should be a really fun time. In the here and now, there’s the Monday edition of Pick Your Poison to get to. Allow me to recommend tracks in this set from Beat Connection, Dumplings en China, Joe Marson, The Pharmacy, Prince of Assyria, Savage Sister and Unicycle Loves You. In the Soundcloud section after the jump, stream songs from City States, Michael Flynn, The Rentals, SBTRKT, Street Eaters and Wild Cub (covering Drake).
