This week is starting to feel like the doldrums of August for whatever reason. Maybe it’s the thought that summer will be unofficially ending in a couple of weeks and that kids are going back to school, but after a fun and moderately exciting summer I suppose this relative calm can be a little nice. The waiting game for this new Frank Ocean record has been fun so far, right? There was all this talk that it would be released last Friday, spurred in part by some videos and activity happening on Ocean’s website, but the day came and went with no new record to show for it. Today I heard a rumor that it might not be out until November. Whenever it shows up, we’ll make sure to give it a listen. Or ten listens. The most important thing to understand is that creativity cannot be rushed, and that new Frank Ocean album isn’t something we can pressure him into releasing, especially if it’s not up to his standards yet. We’re back in business after an extended holiday weekend. If you’re American, I hope you enjoyed your 4th of July. Mine was spent watching fireworks on TV with a bowl of ice cream. Delicious, and perfectly relaxing. One quick thing to note, while I’ve got you here – in honor of Faronheit’s 10th anniversary, the site has been redesigned! It still doesn’t have a lot of bells and whistles, but I think this new look is a lot cleaner and more modern. It’s been maybe five or six years since things have been overhauled to this magnitude, so this was long overdue. Hope you enjoy it! Today officially marks ten years since the launch of Faronheit. There will be many words and some special anniversary stuff happening in the next week or so, but I just wanted to get that formal announcement out of the way right here and now. The first four years of the site were a bit insane, to the point where music blogs were just beginning to take off and record labels became extremely litigious about free music being downloaded across every corner of the internet. It was enough to get the old version of the site shut down, and those four years of archives erased. Well, at the very least no longer active through traditional search engines. A little help from the Wayback Machine provides ample archival evidence of the magic that was the mid-to-late ’00s Blogspot boom. Anyways, the site getting shut down then sparked the move over to this current dot com location, which in my opinion has been the best thing for it. Still going strong after all these years, and still offering quality, legal music for streaming and download on a regular basis.
