Torch songs are typically at their best when paired with a compelling voice. Jesse Jo Stark has that type of voice, and her “Deadly Doll” is all the better because of it. Similarly, Kristin Kontrol is back with another strong synth pop single. “Concrete Love” might not be the best thing she’s ever done, but her vocals and lyrics get very high marks.
